Stylings and Influences

Webpage Updated: 06-Feb-2010

The type of instrumental guitar music I compose and play is hard to classify since I mix a variety of techniques, styles, and genres. You could describe my music as a progressive acoustic-based fusion of new age, folk, rock, blues, jazz, flamenco and even classical, among many other influences.

Alpha Music

If forced to classify my music within a specific genre, you could say it is mostly Progressive or New Age instrumental guitar music. Though I prefer to call it "alpha music" since my intent is to stimulate your alpha brainwaves(external link), which put you in a dreamy, relaxed state ideal for meditation and contemplating God and Creation.

Technique

Using standard and altered tunings(external link), I incorporate mostly fingerstyle(external link) techniques in my style of playing. These techniques include (among others) tapping(external link) or the touch technique(external link), a variety of harmonics(external link) and some exclusive derivations of my own devise. Applying these techniques provides finger “acrobatics” and sonic intricacies that enhance the visual and musical experience of my performances.

Influences

I have many influences and sources of inspirations. Below are the ones that mostly shape my guitar music and playing.
